 Dramatic
English (DE) is an innovative and revolutionary method
of teaching and learning English as a Second Language
(ESL). Developed by a group of education and drama teaching
and training professionals, DE is being rapidly adopted
by many corporations and educational institutions around
the Asian region as the most effective way to complement
traditional English training.
DE employs an activity-based approach and utilizes many
techniques of professional actor training to enhance English
communication skills for clients. It is found to be especially
effective in this region where traditional methodologies
of education rely so heavily on written forms and intensive
individual study. DE provides an opportunity to play with
language without fear and to assist in building up the
confidence to use it in everyday life. The inherent nature
of the program means that participants are not only learning
language skills but also learning how to communicate more
effectively across cultures, language and intrapersonal
barriers.
Dramatic Business English Course is a consolidation of
the years of field experience when we worked with multinational
corporations to cater for the different needs of business
English for their employees. The Course integrates Interactive
Workshops (about 34%), Small Group Tutorials (about 16%),
and Self paced Online Worksheets (about 50%) to give students
a comprehensive and practical environment to learn better
English in business contexts.
Interactive Workshops and the Small Group Tutorials of
the Dramatic Business English Course will be held in the
Dramatic English School & Studio. This DE School &
Studio is a unique venue where an English school is integrated
with a studio theatre. Besides English classes, there
will be regular professional drama performances and improvisation
activities, by DE's teachers, current students, ex-students
and other English drama lovers, whereby forms an English
speaking community.

professionals in drama and education, language teaching,
as well as from the entertainment business.
